FABULOUS WIN PUTS RED STAR THIRD. With three goals coming in the first half at Bauer on Saturday against Guingams' reserves, Red Star caplitalised on the fifth minute lead given by lanky defender Eugène Kangulungu to earn a fine victory over one of the top teams in the CFA group D. The only negative point for Red Star is that key striker Khaled Kemas limped out of the game with a repeat of the leg injury that had plagued him all week. A pleasing point, however was the attendance, six hundred, and the Summer holidays haven't quite finished yet. The home game against Paris Saint-Germain reserves at Bauer in a couple of weeks time could see a large crowd. |

RED STAR KEEP CLEAN SHEET. In a fairly crap game against an uninspiring Sainte-Geneviève side, Red Star surived a missed penalty to keep a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw. With some questionable refereeing decisions (booking for Red Stars' goalie for kicking the ball away and nothing when Rogin was unceremoniously dumped to the ground...) Red Star return from the Essonne still unbeaten in their CFA campaign. Coach Bruno Naidon remained tight-lipped at the end of this dour encounter - sometimes silence is a more powerful communication than words.
Red Star emerge from this physical encounter unscathed, although striker Khaled Kemas needed some attention before the kick off and managed to hold for an hour before being substituted. Watched by former Red Star favourite Ted Agasson, now with neighbours Viry-Châtillon, Red Star could count on a travelling support of around eighty fans. Note that the entrance fee was fixed at six euros (compared to five or three euros at Bauer). UNDER 15s Red Stars' under 15s are back in training, starting today in Bobigny at the Parc des Sports from 5-30pm CET.

OFFICIAL TEAM PHOTO 2006-2007. Yesterday evening Red Stars' squad were present at Stade Bauer for the official team photo.
Just after the photo shoot, the heavens opened and the training session planned for the evening was thrown into turmoil. Water invaded the old stadium at Stade Bauer and flooded some of the corridors and offices.
TRAINING SESSION IN PHOTOS.

RED STAR ROMP TO VICTORY. A breathtaking spell of fifteen minutes at Stade Bauer on Saturday saw Red Star come from behind to score five times and crush experienced CFA outfit Pontivy. After a moribund first half where the entreprise of Red Star was nullified by some stoic defending by the visitors, Bruno Naidons' men returned to the dressing rooms one goal in arrears following a ghastly defending error which allowed Paul Aureart to round Yoann Djidonou and place the ball into the empty net. However, a reinvigorated Red Star took the the field in the second half and after going close through Kemas, Moussa Ouattara drew the sides level with a clinical strike from just inside the penalty area. Khaled Kemas' powerful header put Red Star in front, he added a second with a crisp volley before an own goal made it four. Cédric Rogin silenced his critics in the crowd with a wonderful solo goal, lobbing the visitors' goalie. Vincent Fourneuf almost made it six and sub Geoffroy Da Costa saw his effort go narrowly wide. Coach Bruno Naidon had earlier warned his charges that if you go behind to a team like Pontivy it would be hard to get back in the game, but Red Star overcame any problems in this department. Ideally, for next Satudays' trip across Paris to Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, Red Star will not fall into the trap of going behind, as they have done so far against Poissy and Pontivy. Just under four hundred were on hand to witness the goal feast, not bad to say that the weekend is probably one of the quietest in the Paris area, with a long weekend of the 15th of August many are on holiday and the streets are quiet. In that case, Red Star just have to import the fans - one example is Mishi, from London and an ardent Dulwich Hamlet supporter. Previous visits to Bauer for our intrepid South Londoner have seen wins over Racing, Aubervilliers and Evry as well as a 3-2 friendly win in an unpublicised game against Racing. Oh, and by the way, cheers for the collection of footie mags, Mishi, plenty to keep me occupied in the train to work !

RED STAR DRAW FIRST GAME. The first match of the season in the CFA saw Red Star earn a well-deserved draw at Poissy on Saturday. Despite falling behind to a dubious off-side goal, Red Star retained their composure and drew level with eight minutes remaining through substitute Geoffroy Da Costa.
Played in sunny conditions on a good playing surface, the 250-odd in the Stade Léo Lagrange enjoyed a good contest between two decent teams. The standard of the CFA is visibly higher than that of the CFA 2 and the DH. The slightest error is punished and the game is at a much higher rhythm. The level of skill is higher and although it is too early to tell, Red Star could have some players that will be vital at this level. Khaled Kemas is a born striker, his speed and vision in the eighteen yard area are impressive and he could make an impact on the top scorers list. The "old boys" (Fourneuf, Diomande and N'Simba when he came on) looked up to the task and once the team has gelled as a unit then hopefully success will be forthcoming.

RED STAR WIN FINAL PRE-SEASON MATCH. Red Star returned along the A13 from Mantes with a 1-0 win thanks to a goal on the half hour by striker Khaled KEMAS. At half time coach Bruno Naidon made several changes to the side, with only Reevis N'Simba retaining his place until being substituted by Moussa Ouattara with twenty minutes remaining. The line up for the first half was as follows: |

LATEST NEWS. The holiday period meant that the English version of the site hasn't been updated for a few days; our apologies for this. Quite a lot has happened since the last update, so here are the main details. Preparations continued with a game against L2 outfit Châteauroux at the national teams' training centre in Clairefontaine. Former Red Star man Bourama Ouattara was a thorn in Red Stars' side, scoring twice as his new club ran out 3-2 winners. Red Stars' goals were scored by Da Costa and Kaba Diomande, all goals coming in the first half. Meanwhile, some good news for Red Star came when it was announced that prolific striker Azzedine Benmesmoudi will not have to undergo suergery on his foot as was previously feared. A new plaster pot on his foot and his could be back in training in six weeks time. Azzedine was on hand to watch his team mates at Clairefontaine.
For the third outing of the season against Reims (L2/CFA 2), Red Star were without the injured Benmesmoudi and Hammami, Reevis N’Simba out with a sciatic problem, Khaled Kemas (personal reasons) and Badougou Sambague. |
