STEVE MARLET BACK AT RED STAR Ok, nothing definite yet, but the prodigal son has returned to Sant-Ouen and Stade Bauer at least for training. Steve, currently without a club, is training under coach Bruno Naidon in order to keep his fitness levels in shape.
Steve was a sensation is his spell at Red Star, progressing through the youth ranks to the first team, where he starred in the second division before moving on to first division Auxerre. After featuring in the Champions' League exploits of the Burgundy club, Steve moved to to champions Lyon where he received his call up for the national squad. Steve made his debut in November 2000 in Turkey. Then followed a big-money move to Mohamed Al-Fayeds' Fulham, which through injury and a lack of form proved to be a testing time for the ex-Red Star man. He moved back to France, for a spell with Marseille, then he moved on to pastures new and the German Bundesliga with ambitious Wolfsburg. Steve returned to France to Lorient, but failed to break into the first team on a regular basis. Steve has been looking for a club since being released by the Bretons during the Summer.

RECENT RESULTS Firstly, apologies for the lack of news updates over the last few days. Time constraints have meant a minimal service for the site. However, during this time we still have brought you all the results and photographs - a picture is still worth a thousand words.
Since the fine win over Mulhouse, Red Star travelled east again and came back from Nancy reserves with a 0-0 draw, although they really should have earned all the points, some poor finishing letting them down again. The bad news is that Red Stars' Mickaël Marquet was inured in Lorraine and could miss a large chunk of the season.
The day after the Nancy game, Red Stars' under 18s were in Coupe Gambardella action in what is in effect the local final of the competition before it expands to regional scale. Red Stars' opponents were Entente Sannois Saint-Gratien, whom Red Star had played against and lost to only one week before. This time, Red Star scored just before the break, only to be reduced to ten men after a second yellow card after the break. Despite pressure from the home side, Red Stars' youngsters held out resolutely to progress through to play Saint-Quentin in the next round, most likely at Stade Bauer.
Red Star were without a league game last weekend, but played two friendlies to keep the competitive edge going. In the first Red Star beat Arménienne 2-1 away, Taimmy Negreche and Grégory Lefort being Red Stars' goalscorers on Friday evening. The next day Red Star played Entente SSGs' reserves in Montmorency. This time Red Star went down 2-1, Taimmy Negreche scoring Red Stars' goal.
Meanwhile Red Stars' reserves lost at home to fellow strugglers Neauphle 2-1 but on Sunday managed a 2-2 draw in the Yvelines against Porcheville.

THIS WEEKENDS' RESULTS Mixed bag of results for Red Star this weekend. Pride of place obviously goes to the first XI with their 2-0 win over Mulhouse. Greg Lefort broke the deadlock ten minutes after the pause with a sweetly struck shot from the edge of the penalty area, and with the seconds ticking down Elysée MBanza latched on to the end of a fine pass from Loïc Ghili to slip the ball under the visitors' goalkeeper to make it 2-0. Red Star move to sixth in table, but ahead of them all the big teams won (Besançon, Saint-Priest, Vesoul...)

SUNDAY Red Stars' reserves got back to winning ways on Sunday, coming from behind to beat La Garenne Colombes away 2-1. On a synthetic surface Red Star gave a poor first half performance and fell behind. After the pause they turned things around and goals from Elysée MBanza and substitute Hermane Tchouakue ten minutes from the end won the points for Red Star

Meanwhile Red Stars' under 18s lost 2-1 at Sannois, despite taking the lead in the first half. A defensive error five minutes from time proved costly in an evenly-balanced game. Photos of this game as well as the reserves game will appear later this week.
EUGENE KANGULUNGU After the game on Saturday we chatted with Red Stars' captain Eugène Kangulungu. Eugène has had a long career that has taken in spells in the UK with Carlisle United and Plymouth Argyle. He speaks excellent English and we will hopefully be bringing you an exclusive interview in English with Eugène on the site.
