ALLEZREDSTAR.COM ON HOLIDAY We've decided to take a short break from updating the site for a couple of days over the Christmas holidays. We'll be back, however in the New Year to bring you all the latest news from Stade Bauer and Red Star. The players and staff are on vacation also, so all is quiet at one of the least quiet clubs in French football ! Next game is a friendly at Villemomble On Saturday January 5th 2008, kick off 2-30pm CET; the championship should restart one week later with a trip to Lyon to face their reserves. In the meantime, we at AllezRedStar.com wish you happy holidays, wherever you are in the world, may 2008 bring you peace, prosperity and happiness. Finally, just a reminder that on this day three years ago a huge tsunami hit south-east Asia, causing devastation and killing hundreds of thousands of people. Since then, rebuilding has continued, but at this time we must spare a thought for those that lost in the disaster, especially to all our friends in Sri Lanka, a country much affected by the tidal waves.

RED STAR v EPINAL POSTPONED. Due to the recent cold spell, the pitch at Stade Bauer has been deemed unplayable, so Saturdays' game against Epinal has been postponed, date to be announced. As a result, Red Stars' next game will be a friendly against National outfit VILLEMOMBLE SPORTS at the Stade Georges Pompidou, Saturday 5th January 2008, kick off 2-30pm CET

LATEST NEWS On Saturday, weather permitting, Red Star play their last championship game of the year 2007 at Stade Bauer against Epinal. Over the last few days the temperatures have been low in the Parisian region, and the ground is very hard at the moment. For the weekend the weather men have predicted a rise in temperatures, but only to around three degrees. We will have to wait and see if the pitch at Stade Bauer has thawed out in time for the game to go ahead. In the meantime Red Star have been training on the all-weather pitch at Joliot-Curie. If the game goes ahead, it will kick off at 6pm CET and will be officiated by Romain Savigny, from the Ligue Midi-Pyrénées assited by Joachim Caffe Pierson and Telmo Ferreiro. The fourth official is Joachim Lémy. Training this week at the tade Joliot Curie On the injury front, in addition to Christophe Haguy, Mickaël Marquet and Bouzid Yosri note that Abdenour Nemir and Salle Kanouté are also doubtful for the game. Ludovic Fardin and Taïmmy Negreche have received treatment for knocks picked up in training. Last weekend Red Star were not in championship action, but played a friendly game against Levallois, going down 1-0. Due to a floodlight failure the game ended in near-darkness ! Meanwhile, in the CFA, three games were played: Saint-Priest - Nancy : 2-1 Jura Sud - Lyon : 1-2 Auxerre - Strasbourg : 0-1 Incidentally Red Stars' opponents Epinal were in cup action last weekend, winning 3-1 after travelling overseas to face a team from Cayenne. Their next opponents in the Coupe de France will be.... Paris Saint-Germain, currently going through a rough spell. No doubt their spies will be out at Bauer on Satuday evening to check out Epinal. Last weekend the Red Star supporters' club held their annual end-of-year meal, which was followed by a questions and answer session with Red Stars' directors and management. BLACK WEEKEND Red Star did not enjoy a particularly good weekend, on and off the pitch. Sunday afternoon AllezRedStar.com were supposed to be bringing "almost-live" commentary from two matched at the same time, with the highlights of a third as well as details of a couple of other matches. Unfortunately, as is often the case, Information Systems experienced one of those days. Our site provider, Lycos, started to experience problems Sunday afternoon, making it impossible for us to access our databases and to update them with the on-going action. The problem was finally resolved Sunday evening, but by then the games had all finished. Finished, but not necesarily with the right result - the first XI lost 2-1 at Sochaux Reserves. Despite falling behind, Red Star equalised through Greg Lefort. Unfortunately for Red Star the second half was all one-way traffic and Sochaux, reinforced by six professional players including former Marseille goalkeeper Jérémy Gavanon, won the game ten minutes from time. Red Star did have a couple of glorious occasions to draw level but it was an off-day for the strikers too and the victory went to the hosts, whom strengthen their top four position. CFA RESULTS SOCHAUX B - RED STAR FC 93 : 2-1 Epinal - Jura Sud Foot : 2-1 Strasbourg B - Montceau-les-Mines : 3-0 Lyon B - Croix de Savoie : 0-1 Besançon - Belfort : 3-0 Vesoul - Raon-l’Etape : 1-0 Nancy B - Auxerre B : 2-2 Metz B - Epernay : 1-0 Mulhouse - Saint-Priest : Postponed due to part of the stand roof blowing off Meanwhile, at Stade Bauer, Red Stars' under 18s were playing the first national round of the Coupe Gambardella, against Saint-Quentin. Red Star took the lead in the first half but were soon pegged back level. After normal time the scores were level, and so the game went to penalties. It was the fourteenth penalty that was saved.... unfortunately it was the visitors' goalkeeper that made the save and Red Star were out, to great disappointment. Red Stars' under 18s at Bauer on Sunday A big thanks to our reporters stood in the freezing cold & driving rain to take photos, video and keep us informed of the score progressions. One of our men trailed to Bobigny to watch the reserves only for the game to be called off due to a waterlogged pitch. LATEST NEWS FROM SAINT-OUEN. Red Star travel this weekend to the east once again, to face the reserve team of L1 outfit Sochaux. This comes on the back of a 2-2 draw at Bauer last weekend in the championship against Strasbourg Reserves. In this game Bruno Naidons' men had taken the lead just before the interval, Taimmy Negreche firing the ball under the visitors' goalkeeper after a fine solo run. Minutes after the half taime break and Red Star looked to have taken an unbeatable advantage when a hapless visitors' defender headed the ball into his own goal, under no pressure whatsoever. However Strasbourg staged a fine recovery, first pulling one goal back before drawing level deep into injury time. Taimmy Negreche, scorer of Red Stars' opening goal Making his first team debut due to the suspension of regular full-back Eric Lacomat was Congo-born Donna Toukala. A former player with Beauvais and Paris FC, Donna has been out nearly eighteen months through injury. It was revealed during the week that off the field Donna has had problems with his residence status in France. A simple identity control led to the threat of expulsion from the country, before this decision was reversed. Without work since his contract ended with Paris FC, Donna cannot get his residence permit renewed. His wife and child (born in France) have their papers in order - for the defender, his life his here, he has no family back in the Congo. Let's hope that the situation can be rsolved as soon as possible, and that Donna can fulfil his ambition to take Red Star into the National. The first team are away at Sochaux reserves on Sunday (kick off 2-30pm CET); at the same time the reserves have an important clash away at Bobigny in the championship. Last weekend the game against Conflans-Sainte-Honorine at he Ile des Vannes was called off due the impractiability of the pitch; despite the poor conditions, earlier in the afternoon Red Stars' under 18s had beaten Paris FC 3-1 on the same surface. On Sunday, Stade Bauer will play host to Sébastien Roberts' under 18s as they hope to advance in the Coupe Gambardella to the detriment of visitors Saint-Quentin. Kick off is at 2-30pm CET. Finally, due to Epinals' involvement in the Coupe de France the weekend of the 15th of December, the match Red Star v Epinal has been put back to the 22nd of December, kick off 6pm CET at Stade Bauer.
