NEWS ROUND-UP Red Star turned in a better performance on Saturday in the Lyon suburbs to earn a draw with Saint-Priest. The hosts, whom at one time were in the hunt for promotion before slipping back somewhat in recent weeks, could claim to be lucky as they only equalised in the last few minutes of the game through a hotly disputed penalty. Red Star had began the game brightly and qute deservedly took the lead through Ludovic Fardins' first goal for the first XI of Saint-Ouen. Ludo scores only rarely, due to his role as a defensive midfielder, but since breaking into the team at Epernay, he has aligned seventeen consecutive games in the green shirt and has become an integral part of coach Naidons' plans.
Red Star had made the trip down to Lyon by train. On the way there they travelled in first class (promo SNCF - travel one way in first class for the price of second class). The way back was made in second class. On arrival in Lyon the players had the time to stretch their legs before moving on to Saint-Priest. Also in town that day were the players of FC Metz, there to play Ligue 1 leaders Olympique Lyonnais. Red Star also bumped into the players of the Moroccan Rugby League national team. AllezRedStar.coms' man was at Sannois on Sunday afternoon for the third time this season to watch Red Stars' under 18s in action in a Coupe de Ligue tie against their counterparts of Entente Sannois Saint-Gratien. Earlier this season Red Star has lost in the league before winning in a Coupe Gambardella tie. This time out however, Red Star went home disappointed after losing 5-3 on penalties. The game had ended goalless after normal time (no extra time for the Under 18s). Photos of the encounter are on line - see the Index Page of the site. For technical buffs, the photos were taken with a Nikon D200 and a 70-210 zoom lens. Looks like the old black and white has been consigned to history...

ROTTEN WEEKEND Not only did the first team put in a thoroughly miserable first half performance on Saturday evening at Bauer against Auxerres' reserves, but the second XI failed again going down to a 2-1 defeat at Mantes Reserves. The deciding goal came through a last-minute penalty. CFA RESULTS
Jean-Claude Ourés' under 15s drew 2-2 at Versailles whereas the under 13s lost to a late late goal at Entente SSG. The under 13s second string turned in a fine performance to thump Rosny 6-0. We'l be bringing you a photo reportage of this game later this week, as we have aready done with photos from the "Benjamins" category game at home to Paris FC which ended in a 3-1 defeat for Red Stars' youngsters. |

LATEST NEWS Again, time constraints have limited the frequency of update of the news pages of this site. Nevertheless we have continued to bring you all the scores and photo features. NEW SIGNING. Red Star have signed an experienced defender, from the island of Réunion. Johan Bénard is a left-sided defender, born in Le Port (Réunion), 16th December 1976. Prior to Red Star he has played for Réunion club Saint-Denis, as well as one spell with Saint-Médard (CFA 2), in 1997.
DEFEAT IN BURGUNDY Last weekend Red Star travelled to Burgundy to play last years' Coupe de France surprise package, Montceau-les-Mines. After a dull first half which failed to produce any goals, Red Star cracked in the second period, going down 2-0, the second goal a late penalty.
RESERVES The awful season drags on for the reserves... at Saint-Ouen l'Aumône on a cold and windy day, Red Star went down 2-0 despite total domination in the second half. The first goal was the result of a poor clearance, the second came deep into stoppage time when on a rare outing from their half of the field, Saint-Ouen earned a free kick just outside of the penaty area. The kick was one that Michel Platini would have been proud of, curling round the wall past Diakité in the Red Star goal.
One week later and the Reserves played out a goalless draw against fellow strugglers Conflans Sainte-Honorine. The result leaves Red Star somewhat adrift at the foot of the table. THIS WEEKEND Auxerre are the visitors to Stade Bauer this weekend, experiencing somewhat of an indifferent season, by their high standards. Last season the game was interrupted by a torrential downpour for several minutes. Afterwards Christophe Haguy gave Red Star a dream lead only for the visitors to persist and equalise in stoppage time. Red Star could be without influential captain Eugène Kangulungu for this game, so Abdenour Nemire could start alongside David Pinto. Kick off is at 6pm at Stade Bauer.
