The town of Aurillac is the main town of the Cantal departement in the Auvergne region of France. It has the unfortunate reputation as being the coldest place in France, although statistics prove otherwise. The population is 30 000, and the town is twinned with Bassetlaw in the UK, of which the main town is Worksop. Aurillac

Ex-Red Star player Kalu Ngoma joined Aurillac after leaving Red Star in 2002. In November of that year Aurillac created a sensation in the Coupe de France by beating Saint-Etienne 3-1, the visitors that day featuring another ex-Red Star man Karim Fellahi. In 2007-2008, Aurillacs' goalie copied Carlisle Uniteds' goalkeeper Jimmy Glass when their goalkeeper went up for a corner in the dying seconds of a crucial relegation game and saved his side from the drop to the CFA 2.
