TRIBUTE TO JEAN BAEZA
(1942-2011)
Born 20th August 1942, in Algers, died 21st February 2011, in Cannes.
Jean Baeza started his playing career in Algeria.
Defender, he turned professional at Cannes (62-66) before signing for Monaco (66-68), then Red Star (68-69), Lyon (69-74) before hanging up his boots with Cannes (74-77).
He was capped eight times, twice whilst playing for Red Star, in September 1968 against West Germany (where he was subbed in the second half by Roger Lemerre), in Marseille (1-1) and in October 1968 against Spain in Lyon (1-3), his last apeparance in the national colours.
Finalist of the 1971 Coupe de France (Lyon – Rennes 0-1). In 1973, he once again took part in the cup run, but did not play in the final where Lyon beat Nantes 2-1
