THE TOWN

main town in the Région Rhône-Alpes, at the junction of the rivers Rhône and Saône. Lyon is 465 km from Paris. Lyon is a town rich in culture and gastronomic deights and effectively capital of French football for the last six seasons. The town is only a couple of hours by TGV from Paris and upon arrival there is a system of cheap bicycle hire, a bit like the Vélib system of Paris. Worth a visit.
