"Same old story", according to our correspondant Georges who was at the game.
"We dominated the first half, although the game wasn't up to much. They just weren't responsible enough, apart from a tidy goal from Aïchour, a good individual effort. As for Amnéville, one chance and one goal. The second period was a different game altogether. The amateurs dominated, much quicker over the heavy pitch. Red Star let in a second goal scored by Palcani, but managed to get back on level terms with five minutes remaining, through Milton, a second half substitute. Just as the twenty two actors waited for extra time, Amnéville striker Chaillou took on the static visitors' defence fired home from fifteen metres out. Jean-Marc Branger beaten for the third time in the afternoon. So Red Star bow out of the Coupe de France, somewhat by the back door. Bravo to Amnéville and their coach, former Metz player François Zdun. One happy man will be the Amnéville president, Laurent Fanzel … brother of ex-Audonien and League Cup winner with Gueugnon, David Fanzel.
