LAST MINUTE STINKER

Just as Miss Picardie was crowned Miss France at Monaco, Red Star 93 suffered another last minute sickener, conceding the equalising goal with one minute left of the match at Amiens. Rivière this time scoring to continue Red Stars' recent run of last-gasp disappointments.
"I can't blame the players - they gave their best" said Jean-Luc Girard, before boarding the team bus for home.
On the half hour of play, following up a free kick by Arthur Gomis to the right of the goal defended by Lachuer, the ball ricochetted around in the penalty area before arriving at the feet of Mickaël SERREAU who cooly placed the ball past the Amiens goalkeeper. Prior to then Amiens had dominated procedings, with Darbelet (6), Sampil (14) then Sampil again (26) going close. A good game to watch in the pleasant surroundings of the new stadium.
Following the goal, Amiens applied further pressure, without finding the goal. After the break, Red Stars' defense, biult around the new arrival, ex-Ajaccio man Fabrice Richard, the Audoniens held on to their slender advantage. On the hour, Arthur Gomis, a livewire causing havoc in the Amiens defence was obliged to leave, carrying a slight knock and his place was taken by Franck Busuttil. More pressure from the home side, but a combination of good defending and use of the offside trap frustrated the local attack. Then, following a bad clearance from a goal kick, the ball was picked up twenty-five metres out by Amiens' Rivière who duly equalised.
A body blow to Red Star, because if they had held on toeir win, then they would have been out of the bottom four.
