CFA HERE WE COME

Fridays' game in the Deux Sèvres was a foretaste of life in the CFA. With Thouars already condemned, April 20th 2001 will go down as the day that the once-proud Red Star joined them. Led into oblivion by Jean-Claude Bras and his cohorts... Programme Not to dwell on the game, briefly, in the fourth minute - panic in front of Gilbert Bayihas' goal following another poor clearance from Fabrice Richard; thirteenth minute - Hakim Saci rattles the crossbar with a free-kick; fifteenth minute - Thouars open the scoring as Guillaume Hervé converts a corner from Oyaga (1-0); 37th minute - Saci crosses for Mickaël Pizzo to thump against the bar; 40th - Saragaglia shoots against an upright; 41 minutes a save from a Van Kets header.

After the break, home goalkeeper Laurent Astier is in fine form, but is finally beaten in the 56th minute as Lemées' forgotten man, the discarded SERREAU fires home a crisp shot. On 57 minutes, as it seems that Red Star have done the hardest, Pierre Repellini takes off Van Kets and puts on Price Jolibois. Thoaurs try to react, and then the whole game changes on one incident. Jolibois is on the floor, and after a moment of consultation with his assistant, Monsieur Auvinet waves the red card at Tronchet. This fires up the home side and in the 75th minute, an error by Gilbert Bayiha allows Dimitri Germond to score his first eve goal in the National. Ten minutes later and Germond doubles his tally following good work by Le Chenadec. In the last minute only a save by Bahiya prevents the substitute from claiming his hat trick.
