On Saturday, ex-Paris FC striker Franck Soler effectively sealed Red Stars' fate with the deciding goal of the encounter. On the balance of play, probably a deserved victory, according to our correspondant in Corsica. Only the excellent Charles Itandje prevented a humiliation, pulling off a string of top-notch saves to deny Moretti and later on Meslin. With just after an hour gone, Meslin crossed for the unmarked Franck Soler to bury the visitors.
Red Star did, however have a few good chances themselves - following good work by Saci, Van Kets' shot flew just wide; ex-Ajaccio man Richard had a powerful header turned away for a corner and Hakim Saci even had the ball in the net only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.
