GOODBYE BRAS ?
Sitting alongside Our Glorious President on Saturday evening at Marville were two faces unknown to the Marville public. They were, for the record, Jean-Michel Roussier, former deputy president at Olympique Marseille (96-97) and the chairman of a Saint-Ouen based temp agency Crit Intérim, Claude Guedj. For several years now, the latter as been trying to get a foothold in football, in particular with local club Red Star. Could this be the final moment ? Should it be the case, then these two men could very well take over the reins of the SASP (Société anonyme sportive professionnelle, the new legal status of the company), wich would control the first team, whilst Monsieur Bras would be in charge of the other teams (section associative). RULE CHANGES. Because the first division is being expanded to twenty clubs at the end of the season, the changes filter down to the level of the CFA. In addition to the four group winners, the two best second-placed clubs will be promoted to the National. BORE DRAW. Red Star and Poissy failed to break the deadlock on Saturday evening, drawing 0-0 in the first home pre-season friendly. Red Star feature some familiar faces - N'Goma, Perron, Busuttil, as well as three players who have also played a couple of games at the higher level - the Gomis brothers and Gomes-Varela. The rest came from the CFA or the DSR - F. Mary, Guidali, Saïti, Pendola, Azoulay and the under-17 goalkeeper Sorreau. Some new arrivals at the club - Le Pape, Anderson, Boumendjel (Sabin was absent injured) and a few players on trial - goalkeeper Mondon, Georges N'Goma, Batchi, Boncoeur. CHANGE OF FIXTURE. Red Star originally had planned to play a friendly game versus Viry-Châtillon next Wednesday evening at Marville, but seeing as how the clubs will meet in a league clash just two weeks after, commonsense has prevailed and so the Audoniens' opponents next Wednesday will be Créteil reserves. |
![]() RED STAR TRY GOALKEEPER. Former Angoulême goalkeeper Bertrand Gallou (photo) is currently undergoing trials with Red Star. Born in Tours, the 9th May 1974, Gallou has also defended the goals of Tours and Mulhouse. He could feature in Red Stars' next friendly on Saturday at Marville against newly-promoted to the CFA, POISSY. Last season Red Stars' first team disposed of Poissy in the Cup, winning 3-0 away despite one or two difficulties, but Red Stars' reserves struggled against the best defence in the division, drawing at home before losing the away fixture. Former Red Star man Laurent Delanoue is currently on trial with Poissy. |
FIRST TEST AT CLAIREFONTAINE. Tomorrow evening (6pm CET) Red Star kick off their campaing 2001-2002 with a friendly game at the Centre Technique National Fernand Sastre, Clairefontaine against Paris FC. The Parisiens are optimisitic and ambitious, and have ex-LNF boss Noël Le Graët as vice-president. As for Red Star, coach Jean-Luc Girard will be using the game to test his squad and also to evaluate several triallists with the aim of building a team capable of winning the CFA. |
