For their first ever cup final at the Stade de Colombes, Red Star are welcomed by over 30 000 spectators. Five years on from their last final appearance, and todays' opponents are the Cercle Athletique de Paris. The first all-Paris final in seven years, the last being a 2-1 Red Star win over Olympique de Paris in 1921.
In order to reach the final, the footballers from Saint-Ouen had beaten S.C. de Nîmes 1-0, Stade Quimpérois 5-1, U.S. Servannaise 5-1, Amiens A.C. 4-3, and in the semi-final another Paris club, Stade Français 8-2. An impressive win, indeed Red Star were six up by the interval. The goals came from Belin og, Martin (2), Lund (2), Brouzes and Paul Nicolas (2). Todays' opponents CAP had beaten F.C. Mulhouse 5-1.
Red Star waste no time, and in the eighth minute from a Lund corner, Paul Wartel beats Armand Blanc. Lund is a corner specialist, and in the thirty-third minute he bends another flag kick directly into Blancs' net. Already the Red Star fans think that the cup is won. But, just before the break, Gautheroux shoots, the ball is deflected by CAP striker Pierre Bertrand past Red Star 'keeper René Espanet.
With the restart, Red Star with internationals Paul Nicolas, Brouzes (both former cup winners), Domergue, Chantrel, the Norwegian Brenna Egil Lund and another overseas player in the Uruguayen defender Orestes Diaz, a 1925 visitor with National Montevidéo and subsequently recruited by Red Star control the game and score a third goal in the 61st minute. Brouzes capitalises on an error by CAP defender Fidon and the game ends at 3-1 to Red Star. This was to be the last all-Paris final... seventy two years later, and in another cup competition, only a last-gasp Gueugnon equalizer prevents another all-Paris final !
