Not a dream, but on Saturday 25th September 1993 Red Star won 1-0 in Alès.
"This may make people laugh, but I saw some good things", were the words of local coach José Pasqualetti following the defeat of his youngsters.
Todays' Red Star would kill for a similar result on Saturday, but on that day Red Star won their first away match of the season, after having played thirteen games in D2.
The club from Saint-Ouen, coached by Herbin and Repellini tore into the game at 100mph, presenting Steve Marlet with two good scoring opportunities, a powerful drive in the first minute and a header five minutes later, saved with some difficulty by Ceccarelli. The Cévenols awoke, led by Saib Lamoucchi, currently with Parme, but the defence in front of Gilles Bourges (and ex-Alès goalkeeper) kept them at bay. Back from the half-time break, a 49th minute cross from Jean-Luc Girard found the head of Samuel Michel, yet another goal for the marksman and Alès are beaten.
Captain Bourges could be proud of his winning return to Alès. Notable in the line-up of the home side was David Giraudo later to become a Red Star player, as well as Luc Chastel former Alès man as was Alain Gunia. Following the win, Red Star climbed to seventh place.
