The club from the Ivory Coast capital Abidjan. ASEC was founded in 1948 by the Employees' Association of the Office of Commerce of Abidjan. Home is the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny (a former president of the republic). Club president is Maître Roger Ouegnin. The club is the most decorated club in the Ivory Coast - fifteen championships, twelve cups, African Club Champions in 1998 and African supercup winners in 1999. Over the period 1965-1998, the club is the fifth most successful of the African continent.

Before embarking on a career as a coach, Jean-Marc Guillou was a gifted player and played midfield with Angers and Nice, 19 caps for France between 1974 & 1978.
A charismatic figure in French football in the 70's, and has always maintained his bemief in the "beautiful game", and treats football as a celebration, not as a war. Incomparable in terms of his technique, he was for many years shunned by certain National bosses before being invited by Michel Hidalgo to form a formidable midfield trio with Bathenay & Platini.
Jean-Marc Guillou has dedicated himself to the advancement of football in the Ivory Coast and has cultured a generation of young talent to play his attacking game.
