JUSTICE, I SUPPOSE

Once again a side more enterprising than Red Star came to Marville, and this time deservedly parted with a share of the points. La Chapelle came before Christmas, played well and left with nothing, but a lively Vesoul were good value for the draw.
Despite monopolising the ball, Vesoul failed really to threaten Fabrice Bruneaus' goal until the second period. Red Star clearly missed the presence and finishing of Arthur Gomis, and Sabin and Dagnogo didn't pose a great threat to Vesoul. Soumaré posed problems down the flank, and Pendola created a fine opening on the half hour, but Dagnogos' header flew narrowly wide. Half time - goalless.
After the pause much of the same, before Dagnogo powered his way into the visitors' penalty area. He appeared to have pushed the ball too far in front of him, but as the goalkeeper advanced the referee adjudged him to have tripped the Red Star striker and pointed to the spot. DAGNOGO took the responsibility and fired the ball into the roof of the net for his first league goal of the season. (1-0).
Red Star really should have wrapped the game up shortly afterwards when a fine cross by Sabin just failed to connect with the diving header of Dagnogo with the goalkeeper stranded. Enis Saïti fired a vicious long range effort into the arms of Noël before Vesoul equalised. Red Star had several occasions to clear the ball from their defensive lines, but the ball fell to substitute Menestrel on the edge of the penalty area and his low drive beat Bruneau with the aid of a post. (1-1).
Final score parity, the visitors enjoyed this, but really Red Star should have sealed it up.

Another draw, the unbeaten run continues, but still not showing promotion form. The strikers were absent, only Soumaré looked likely to make a difference. Pendola and Saïti appeared to take it in turns to drift in and out of the game, leaving an indifferent midfield. N'Goma showed some good touches and worked hard, difficult to disposses when with the ball. Apart from one momentary lack of concentration the defence looked solid enough, especially with the dominating Bruneau behind them.
Off the field, the usual bad treatment for the supporters - firstly at the turnstiles where the price has risen to € 5 - which is 32.80 Francs where the price was 30 F before; pigeon shit all over the seats in the TinCanStand; the lights left on all the game; no loudspeaker announcements on our side of the ground; no half-time coffee (again)....
