LAST DITCH RED STAR

Red Star opened the scoring on a windy day through SABIN in the 20th minute, after having earlier gone close through a Guérin free kick (13) and Dagnogo (14). In fact the wind was so violent that Fabrice Bruneau very nearly beat his opposite number with a long clearance.
After the break Dunkerque rose to the challenge and Brygo (59), Colinet (60), Bolima (63), then Brygo again (64) had good efforts. However, on 71 minutes, Némora pulled a cross back to Bolima who whot firmly to equalise. (1-1).
The turning point of the game came in injury time. Substitute Santos fouled a Dunkerque striker only for the referee to wave play on. However, Santos committed another foul on the same player, this time in the penalty area. Despite howls of protest from the locals, Monsieur Cambraye returned to the first foul and awarded a free kick to Dunkerque. The kick yielded nought, and as Red Star cleared their lines the ball arrived in the home penalty area, where Robert GOMIS was on hand to score his first goal of the season (1-2). Bit of a smash and grab job, but who cares when Red Star are pushing for promotion ?
