BORE DRAW

Billet

Not exactly a classic match, but yet another example of a Red Star one-all draw. SISSOKHO got the visitors off to a great start after twenty four minutes, gracefully lobbing the home goalkeeper Robin following Arthur Gomis' knock-on of a miss-hit Saïti cross. It was more or less what they deserved for some enterprising approach play and a general dominance. Sissokho in for the suspended Sabin looked more dangerous than last weeks' strike force, and Red Star, contrary to the Abbeville performance looked capable of scoring more goals.
Unfortunately the game degenerated into one offside trap against another, and the play was concentrated into a space thirty metres either side of the halfway line.
Just before the break, Loïc Le Pape lost posession a few metres from his own dead ball line. The cross appeared harmless enough, but the hapless Rudy Perron stuck out a leg and the ball was deviated into his own goal. A bit rough on the Red Star defender.
After the break; much of the same, but a spell of five minutes brought some pressure from La Chapelle, and Fabrice Bruneau was forced to make two superb saves to keep his side in the game. After that, Red Star dominted proceedings, until five minutes from time when Saïti was ajudged to have bundled over a La Chapelle striker in the penalty area. Despite Bruneau going the wrong way, Linger pulled his shot wide to the left of the goals. Let off for Red Star, and the game petered out.

Red Star lucky in the end not to have lost, but they must surely be rueing the draw, especially after Sissokhos' opener. La Chapelle haven't exactly helped themselves, and appear doomed. A shame, really as the club is a friendly one, the stadium small but cosy, and no fences nor running track to spoil the view.
