MATCH REPORTS 2003-2004  RED STAR 93

RED STAR FC 93 - ORLY 2-0,
(Amical)
Stade Bauer, 14/8/2003

ORLY. Against Orly, Red Star claimed their first pre-season victory, and totally merited it. Outclassing the visitors technically, Red Stars' organisation under coach Meguellatti was excellent. Milome scored the first goal after a calamity in the Orly defence, then a quarter of an hour later Phil Marques scored a fine goal. Later Ryad Fellahi moved up front after Milome was withdrawn following fisticuffs with an Orly player. His main contribtion was a free kick, struck beautifully which curled past the goalie only to hit the crossbar. Red Star didn't make too many changes at half time, Meguellati preferring to retain a stable line-up. With one or two minor modifications this appears to be his starting line-up, with Néret in goals, confident, a solid defence of Carles, the excellent Hammami, Gueye and Fourneuf; midfield Budoc, Mintingo, Desmarets and the entreprising Jalliti, and up front Milome and another, possibly Fellahi.
Red Stars' defence never looked threatened, and from last season Vince Fourneuf is a re-born player. Classy, confident on the ball, tackling excellent, the arrival of the new coach has brought out some hidden promise in the youngster. Following the departure through injury of Yoann Delaneuville, Vince even took over the captains' armband. Finally, some good news with the announcement that Julien Carles, a livewire against Orly has finally put pen to paper and committed himself to Red Star.
