Red Star - Brétigny
Nabile Yessad back in the pack

GOALLESS UNDER THE DELUGE

Conditions at Bauer yesterday matched conditions Down Under for another important match which was taking place. Unlike the egg-chasers, however, Red Star failed to get onto the scoreboard, and the game ended goalless.
For Red Star, Nabile Yessaf made his return into the defence alongside Cuervo, Bilal Hammami missing out due to a broken toe sustained in training. Up front, Hiroux was making his last appearance in a Red Star shirt before moving across to play for CFA outfit Pontivy.
The appalling weather contributed to the poor quality of football on display. The match became bogged down (literally) in midfield, and suited the visitors' style of hoofing the long ball forwards trying to stretch the Red Star defence. Carles, Cuervo, Guei and in particular Yessad coped well with this threat, and when Brétigny succeeded in getting a shot on target, Germain was well up to the task.
At the other end, meanwhile, we had to wait eighty five minutes for the first real test of the visitors' keeper, when big Franck Guei embarked on a solo run, shook off a couple of defenders and thumped a beautiful drive which Zinsou Dossa turned over the crossbar for a corner. Prior to that, Latt-Agnes had laboured in difficult conditions and was well-shackled by the defence. The introduction of Fellahi and Phil Marques had injected a bit of pace into Red Stars' attacks, against a tiring defence, and this resulted in some late pressure on the away goal. But to no avail and the points were shared. Special mention for Neevis N'Simba, starting his first game for Red Star, and who had a very good first half before tiring in the second.
