CRAP FINISHING - AGAIN

Once again goal-shyness was the undoing of Red Star, although unlike Le Mée last weekend, Cosmo rarely threatened to upset the apple cart. Red Stars' best moment came just after the hour of play when defender Nabile Yessad decided to show his forwards how it should be done, setting off on a powerful run à, la Maradonna, brushing off a couple of challengers only for his shot to go the wrong side of the post.
In baking hot conditions, Red Stars' best player by far was the excellent Abdallah, returning to his old stomping grounds to torment his erstwhile colleagues. With a little more luck in front of goal, he could have had a hat trick. Meanwhile his striking partners Baldé and Hamdani were absent from duty - the former shackled and the latter completely anonymous. The expression barn door and banjo spring to mind.
Yann Bell was caleld into action on a couple of occasions and performed admirably, although Fourneuf, Yessad, Hammami and Diomande didn't let a great deal get past. In midfield Reevis N'Simba looked more lively than last week while Greg Sinobad, making his debuts gave a faultless performance. Red Stars' biggest threat came from the movement and interplay between Abdallah and Hammami the full-back.
Two points lost or two gained ? That was the question being asked by the faithful on the way out of the ground. On one hand a draw against a tough Cosmo side is a positive point, but then again Red Star had enough good chances to win the game. Red Star are too good to have to fight against relegation, but unless the ball is put into their opponents' goal promotion seems a very distant prospect and mid-table mediocrity beckons. Let's put things right at Evry next week.
