SAME OLD STORY

Red Star might hav completely blown their championship hopes with yet another defeat against a rival for the title at Stade Bauer. A Da Veiga goal in the second half as Red Star threatened to dominate affairs gave the visitors a win they could only have dreamed about before the game.
Despite green domination in the second half, in the first it was a completely different story. For once it was Red Star who were forced to defend and hit back on the counter. Red Star should have gone beind early in the game, had it not been for a last-gasp goalline clearance from Vincent Fourneuf. Pressing forwards was not Cosmos' usual game plan, and perhaps at the break coach Charly Jean realising that his men were playing the wrong game plan decided to sit back and let Red Star come at them, knowing that Red Star have a certain ineptitude in front of goal at times. Then they could hit back on the break and try and pull something out of the hat. It worked. Nabile Yessad was forced to give away a free kick in a dangerous position from which DA VEIGA got the slightest of touches on it past an unsighted Yann Bell in the home goal. So predictable but eyt so avoidable. (0-1)
From then on it was all Red Star. As Cosmo sat back and absorbed the pressure, together with one or two huge slices of luck and a crap pitch they managedto hold out for the win. Real frustration for the home supporters, and at the end Cosmo coach Charly Jean couldn't wait to taunt the Gang Green of Red Star.
Once again Red Star caught out by the sucker punch. Cosmo showed some real flair in the first period only to resort to their usual one-dimensional unimaginative rubbish that appears to work for more than one DH club. Mind you Red Star were dire at times in front of goal and some of the long-range shooting was apalling. N'Simba and Abdallah really outhgt to have done better; Hamdani appeared to spend the game falling over and appealing for free kicks; only Bilal Hammami came out with any real credit in a gutsy performance. Forget this one, but although the fat lady has yet to sing, I'm afraid that this opera is very nearly terminated for another season.
