Red Star - Aubervilliers
Azzedine Benmesmoudi scores & receives the accolades from his team mates

SOME SECOND HALF !

For Red Stars' VIPs from South-East London, the home side gave forty five minutes of storming football after a largely forgettable first period. Right from the kick off there was really only one team in it, with wave after wave of green and white shirts pouring down on Luarent Delmas' goal. Until the break Aubervilliers gamely held out, playing a classing DH game of getting men behind the ball, making up for the gulf in class by honest endeavour.
So let's pass on to the good stuff. Just as a degree of frustration was beginning to set in, a Dulwich fan reassured your correspondant by saying that the best team would soon score, and three minutes after the pause the most likely player on the park to break the deadlock did just that with a hallmark finish. Big Aboubacar TANDIA was just too much for four, nay five defenders, spinning round to lash an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner. Marvellous. Dulwich loved that one. Just as the smoke from Red Stars' supporters flares was beginning to clear away, Azzedine BENMESMOUDI was quite rightly rewarded for his enterprise with Red Stars' second goal. Lovely.
Just afterwards Aubervilliers staged a fightback, much to their credit, and actually took the ball into Red Stars' half. They finally renewed their acquaintance with Yann Bell in the form of a penalty just on the hour, as Franck Gueï more clumsily than maliciously bundled over an Auber striker in the box. However, Laurent Landre had obviously forgotten how to shoot, and his rather tame penalty was saved by Yann Bell diving to his right, guessing correctly. A real turning point in the game, as Red Star regained their composure and proceded to stamp their true class on a demoralized opponent. This time Bourame OUATTARA got in the act, giving Delmas no chance. One minute later and the game was all over as Azzedine BENMESMOUDI crowned a fine personal performance with his second and Red Stars' fourth. Finally, after Philippe Cuervo had left the action to a standing ovation, Sub Jimmy Hamme set up Aboubacar TANDIA to score the fifth and cap a fine performance by Red Star to help forget the abberation of Lusitanos.
Red Star in the second half were just outstanding, every green shirt contained a hero, and this to cap off a fine day at Saint-Ouen both for Red Star and Dulwichs' supporters. The buvette was drunk dry of beer, Tarek got the champagne out as promised and that was soon demolished. More beer was ordered and duly despatched, French and English mixed freely, talking football, life and the universe in general. Perhaps one of the best moments at Stade Bauer in many a long year. To everyone involved in this unforgettable day, AllezRedStar.com extend a heartfelt thank you - now can we have some more like this please ?
