RED STAR SLIP UP ON DAY TO FORGET

Red Star and their supporters will be hoping to put this awful day behind them and with five games remaining, and with the results going more or less their way this weekend, anything is still possible. But for next weeks' hoem game at Bauer against Lusitanos, coach Jean-Luc Girard will have to reshuffle his defence, following the red card handed out to key defender Vincent Fourneuf. He will have Franck Gueï back from suspension, and the reliable Jérémy Budoc could be brought in on the flanks with Kaba Diomande moving to a central rôle.
The weather man had got it wrong again, and the match kicked off in the sunshine, with a large crowd out in force for this important game. Red Star brought their usual large travelling support, sweleld by one or two new faces and for the home side there was additional support from one or two regulars to first-team games.
However the game soon started to fall apart for Red Star. This really was a game of two halves - Sannois attacked, put Red Star under pressure and were rewarded for their efforts on twenty six minutes when Red Star failed to clear their lines at a corner, Bell flapped at the ball and missed, leaving Chineau to rifle the ball home on the second attempt. 0-1 More agony was piled on seven minutes later as referee Mailly awarded a penalty against Red Star following a clumsy challenge in the box. Imakhoukhène sent Bell the wrong way and doubled Sannois' advantage
With the livewire Mendy tormenting Red Stars' defence, and Benmesmoudi subdued, Sannois' at times physical approach kept the visitors at bay. After the break Red Star were a different team and tore into Sannois with renewed vigour. Just before the hour Red Star were awarded a penalty after a Sannois player was adjudged to have handled the ball in th area. Tandia missed the first attempt, the ball going wide, but was given a second bite at the apple as a Sannois player had encroached into the area. Second effort, this time beat goalkeeper Ringot. But another encroachment and on the third attempt TANDIA blasted the ball home to reduce the deficit (1-2).
The last half an hour was virtually total Red Star dominance, and they looked to have been given a lifeline with a quarter of an hour left as Sannois defender Lybhoy was given his marching order for a foul on Jimmy Hamme. But before Red Star had time to capitalise on their numerical superiority, Vincent Fourneuf upended a Sannois player and was shown a straight red card. Despite one or two good chances near the end, and some fine wing play from wide men Ouattara and Hamme, Tandia and Benmesmoudi didn't get the service they deserved and as a result the four-match winning streak came to an end.
After the final whistle one or two spectators marred the day with some unplesant behaviour, and tempers flared at the stadium exits.
One to forget, the battle isn't over yet, this isn't the first time that the leadership of the DH has changed hands, and it might well change hands again before the last day. Let's just hope that Red Star can put this awful day behind them and bring back the good times and the sunshine to Stade Bauer
