RED STAR GO TOP

A classy performance, gutsy at times, took Red Star to the top of the CFA 2. In pouring rain Taïeb Abdallah got the greens off to a perfect start after only two minutes, when his free kick from out wide on the touchline after Ludovic Pages had been fouled bamboozled the home 'keeper. (1-0 Red Star). The visitors continued to dominate for the next twenty minutes and Davidson should have doubled the lead. Avion came back into things, however, but some lacklustre finishing meant that Red Star went to the break with a clean sheet.
After the pause, Red Star regained their composure and when Benmesmoudi went down in the eighteen yard box, up stepped Vincent Fourneuf to send the keeper the wrong way (2-0). The goal came as a blow to Avion and thirteen minutes later Doumbya broke his scoring duck this season when put through by Abdallah to make it 3-0. Finally the inevitable goal from Azzedine Benmesmoudi capped the victory 4-0, the best away win in the championship for a very long time.
