FIFTEEN MINUTES OF BRILLIANCE

Mishi kept up his hundred percent record of seeing Red Star win every game he has attended, but at half time, with Pontivy one goal to the good and Red Stars' strikers not really making much of an impression against a robust visitors defence, the record looked to be wobbling. True, Kemas was looking dangerous and on occasions Red Star were playing some very neat football. But Pontivy dealt Red Star a sucker punch when Kaba Diomande made a hash of a fairly straightforwards clearance allowing Aureart clean through to round Yoann Djidonou in much the same way as Poissy did the weekend previously (0-1). Pontivy just about hung on until half time, when Red Star emerged a different team. Full of confidence, a smart passing move led to OUATTARA drilling a low shot into the Pontivy net (1-1). Red Star desrved to be on level terms, and with confidence rediscovered, a fine cross from Berthier found the head of KEMAS who dispatched the ball past the hapless Pontivy 'keeper (2-1). Moments later KEMAS doubled his tally to pile on the misery for the visitors (3-1) before some hopeless defending allowed Vincent FOURNEUFs' deflected header from a corner to roll over the line (4-1). By now Kemas, Ouattara, Berthier, Fabiano Rogin and co were running riot in Pontivys' all-at-sea defence and it was the latter who added the cream on the cake with a fine solo goal to wrap up the scoring. Breaking away down the left, Rogin had Berthier in support but ignoring your correspondants' suggestion to pass the ball inside to his unmarked team mate, ROGIN lobbed the Pontivy goalkeeper and his loud Pink Panther shirt to send the Red Star fans into delirium. (5-1).
After the fifth goal, Pontivy regained some of their composure and Red Star made a flurry of changes, bringing on Da Costa, N'Simba and Lefort for Kemas, Berthier and Rogin. The game petered out with no real further chances for Naidons' heros.
Five-one. One thing is certain, looking back at this game and the Poissy game, the CFA is a completely different kettle of fish from the CFA 2 and the DH. The difference in class is enormous, the game faster and of a much higher technical standard. It might have been hard to lose some of last seasons' heros, but in bringing in the likes of Kemas, Fabiano, Rogin and Berhtier, Bruno Naidon has appreciated that important changes needed to be made in order for Red Star to compete at this high level. Kemas was lethal anywhere in front of goal and has a deceptively good turn of speed for his physical appearance. Three very important goals for Red Star in the strikes of Kemas, to prove that he is a true goalscorer, for Ouattara in settling his nerves in front of Red Stars' supporters and to Rogin, again trying to win over some of Red Stars' more sceptical supporters. In total, apart from the defensive cock-up that allowed Pontivy to score, Red Star responded well to the challenge and despite it being early doors, hopefully can build on these successes to lift the club to a higher level. Fantastic Red Star, great entertainement and a great result.
