THE RESULT THAT COUNTS

Red Star notched up their first home success of the season at Bauer on Saturday evening, but it was a case of the result being more important than the manner in which it was obtained. This was not a game to have you on the edge of your seat... more a game to look around, muse on life, the universe and everything...
If the answer to the above is indeed forty-two, then the answer to Red Stars' success in this game might have been the tireless endeavour of striker Noël Moukila. His hard work was rewarded with a marvelously taken goal with minutes remaining on the clock. Earlier in the game, Red Star had been rewarded for their attacking efforts and overall dominance of the game when Bouzid Yosri was bundled over in the penalty area. M. Wadoux pointed to the spot and this time Taimmy NEGRECHE made no mistake from twelve yards, bringing his tally for the season to four goals, half of what he managed last season in he colours of Dieppe. (1-0)
But moments later, with the ball running harmlessly away for a goal kick or maybe at worst a corner, full back Christophe Haguy was judged to have brought down a Raon plyer in the penalty area, result a chance for the visitors to draw level from the spot. Julien Michon made no mistake and the sides were once again level, despite Red Stars' apparent dominance of affairs.
Apart from a spot of pinbal in the Raon box, Red Star failed to create any good chances for the rest of the first half; indeed the visitors looked to be stronger as the game went on. Former Red Star man Azzedine Benmesmoudi, now in the colours of Raon l'Etape was mute, no doubt due to the faultless game played by Red Stars' centre back Abdenour Nemir.
After the break the game descended into a dull and lifeless affair with nothing really to get excited about. Mickaël Marquet replaced the tiring Negreche and from one on his centres, with only two minutes remaining, the Raon defence failed to clear their lines and the ball fell to MOUKILA, whom struck a sweet volley into the net. (2-1).
This was Red Stars' first goal of the season scored from open play, and earned a deserved victory over opponents struggling for confdence after relegation from the National last season. Red Star looked sluggish at times; the best players on view were Moukila and central defender Abdenour Nemir, who never put a foot wrong all game, looked solid and played with quiet confidence. Keeping it simple can be the key to success. Nemir also has an eye for the perfect pass, often the creative through ball coming from his boot. In midfield, Ludovic Fardin was another success, keep it simple and very rarely made a mistake. Next week Red Star travel to Belfort, a tricky trip to negociate but winnable nevertheless.
